Other editions of Linux Mint will have applets or desklets, or maybe you can drag and drop like was shown, or create a desktop shortcut launcher to a webpage.Ĭlick images to view them, click again to enlarge or shrink them. Other widgets: "Webslice", "webcut", etc. There are also KDE widgets, like "web browser" where you can have a mini working web browser to a webpage. (right click desktop, click last option (desktop configuration), select layout option "Folder View", click apply.) I can easily copy a web link from any browser, and right click desktop, create a new "link to location" to create a desktop shortcut launcher to a web page, but you have to use the KDE "Folder View" desktop layout. On my Linux Mint KDE system I cannot "drag and drop" a web link to my desktop to create a shortcut launcher as was mentioned by "JerryF". Out of curiosity, with browsers having bookmarks (including custom Bookmark folders), and many add-ons, why create a desktop shortcut to a webpage? Are these regular webpages, or YouTube type webpages, etc.? I have many custom browser bookmark folders ( & Sub-folders) where I can add or "drag n drop" frequently used links into those folders for quick access, ie: Linux Mint, Linux, News, ToDo, Music, Movies, Images, Tabs, Family, etc.
It would help to know more about your system setup, like what edition and version of Linux Mint are you running? If you run " inxi -Fxzd" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.
